When looking for an office chair with a headrest it is important to remember that you should support your body yourself. This means that your neck should be free to move as naturally as possible and resting it on a static headrest for long periods of time may have a negative effect.
It is always advisable to move as much as possible when using an office chair. Your best position should be your next one. This will encourage blood flow and joint lubrication. Remember your car is very well designed ergonomically but if you go on a long journey you may feel stiff when you get out due to lack of movement.
At Office Chairs UK we have been reviewing chairs since 1971 and have come to the conclusion that the best chair that we have found is the superbly designed Humanscale Freedom office chair by Niels Diffrient.
The integrated headrest on the Freedom chair actively moves towards you as you recline. This means that your eyes can stay level with your monitor in conjunction with the height adjustability of the headrest. With a traditional headrest you would have to move your head into an unnatural position a bit like in your car.
There are many options for ranges and colours.
I used one of these chairs for many years and the smooth recline mechanism free of locks and adjustment levers makes sitting a joy. You can truly support your neck with the adaptive headrest and ensure that you keep moving whatever sitting task you are performing.
The Humanscale Freedom chairs also have a 15 Year Manufacturers Guarantee so you can relax knowing that should anything go wrong (which is rare) you will be covered.
