Office Chairs UK, 06/12/2020
As 2020 draws to a close, we can begin to hope for a little more positivity and normality heading into 2021. For many, ‘normality’ involved the dreaded (and, now, slightly missed) commute to work.
It can be easy to spend your commute feeling anxious or stressed about the day ahead, but we have put a few suggestions below to help you transform your manic morning into a journey of serenity and give yourself a productive commute. So sit back, grab your breakfast and have a read of these simple tips for making your commute a productive one.
Listen to Podcasts
We live in an age where there is more online content and creative platforms than ever before. It’s only right that we take full advantage of what is on offer. A podcast can be an excellent way to make the most of your daily commute, whether you’re listening to your favourite comedian sharing embarrassing stories, hard-hitting political debates or a footballer’s off-field shenanigans, podcasts really have become one of the leading sources of content that are enjoyed by millions worldwide. So sit back, close your eyes and enjoy the solace of a podcast, because let’s face it, you’ll probably be stuck listening to someone else’s conversation on public transport otherwise.
Despite the outside chaos of a morning commute, it can actually be an ideal place to begin brainstorming and thinking up some fresh new ideas. For however long you find yourself on a bus, train or tram in the morning, this is the only time you’ll truly have free of distractions and interruptions. Once you get to work you’ll have the comments of coworkers, phone calls and meetings, so why not look for the silver lining in your commute and see what you can come up with? Perhaps you’ve had a creative block on an issue, or you need to think up some new ideas for a new campaign - your commute could provide the perfect opportunity.
Take full advantage of your free time on your daily commute by getting creative. Whether you like to write, draw and sketch this can be a great way to take your mind away from your commute whilst also doing something productive and inspirational.
There are plenty of ways you can express your creativity from drawing with an app on your phone, storytelling on your laptop or scribbling sketches into a notepad. This can be a great way to stimulate the brain ready for a big day ahead.
Plan Your Day
Let’s face it - no one wants to think about work on their commute but the truth is, it is a great opportunity to get a head start on your day without doing any real heavy lifting. Whether that is bullet pointing daily tasks, making notes, checking emails or getting yourself up to date with your schedule for the week, it can all help make your day a little easier to get into come 9 am. Just be sure not to do too much work on your way in.
Not everyone wants a brain teaser to start off their day, or dive into some emails. Sometimes the best way you can help increase your productivity for the day is to sit back and relax. Listen to some music, read a book, meditate. Do what you need to do to switch off. Not only will you come to your stop feeling relaxed, but you’ll also get into the office feeling recharged and ready for the day ahead.
Now you have your commute sorted, why not nail down your morning rituals, too? We have a great guide to the best morning routines to start your day off right.
