Easy-to-Care-for Plants to Liven Up Your Office Space

Whether you’re looking for a way to bring some life into your home office or the traditional office, there are plenty of low maintenance plants that won’t mind if you’re forgetful when it comes to the watering can or can’t always provide the best lighting options. Plants are linked to improved health, and many can even improve the quality of air in your working space. Furthermore, indoor plants are coming back in a big way. ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

Perfect for just about any spot in the office is the ZZ plant. Originating in South Africa, the ZZ plant defines easy-to-care for: it can thrive in low light conditions and won’t droop the second you forget to water it. The ZZ plant is used to drought conditions, and it’s also a slow grower, so you won’t need to worry about it taking over space any time soon. The broad green leaves are waxy and attractive, brightening up any space. 

Cast Iron Plant (Aspidistra)

Labelled as practically unkillable, the Cast Iron Plant makes the perfect office companion. It’s long, tropical appearing leaves help to purify the air and bring an exotic feel to any room. Favoured by the Victorians for their ability to live in polluted cities and even indoors (full of gas lamp fumes), the Apidistra is a common choice for a person’s first house plant due to the low level of care they require. They need minimal watering and can cope well in just about any light condition. 

 
Corn Plant

This hardy desert plant comes in a variety of species, but all of them are equally beautiful and easy to care for. This is a lovely unusual plant to liven up your office space and is often confused with a yucca, as they appear very similar. Corn plants are low maintenance when it comes to watering but do well in humid rooms. When it comes to light. A corn plant will be happy anywhere apart from harsh, direct sunlight. 


Snake Plant

Sometimes called Mother in Law’s Tongue, the snake plant is another excellent and sturdy option for anyone looking to add a bit of interest to their workspace. This is another excellent option if you are looking for a plant that you don’t have to think about apart from every couple of weeks when you will have to check it’s soil and potentially give it a bit of water. It can get by in just about any level of light but will do best with bright light. 


For any plant, it’s important to remember that their needs will differ depending on a number of factors, including environment, climate and plenty more. It’s always best to regularly check your office plants at least once a week just to see if they need misting or watering, or moving to a spot with more or less light, depending on how best they flourish.
